For this reason

Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,  so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:8-11

 

For this reason…for this explanation…for this cause….for this motive… for this rational…for this reason. As the Christmas season is upon us we think through the reason for the season. We see bumper stickers. Tee Shirt. Banners …the reason for the season Jesus Christ. So true but is it only for the season? Jesus born, for this reason... Pay the penalty for our sins…our anger…our selfishness…our lust…our unforgiveness… our anxiety…our fears…our hatred…our lies…our discontentment…our grumbling…our impatience…our lack of grace…mercy…compassion…He paid the price for murder …deception…fornication…pornography…He bore it all …through humility denying Himself His right to His own power and authority as God in the flesh so that we may live. For this reason…the cross self denial He (Jesus) was exalted and lifted up high. In His lowly state He was exalted!  For this reason…we too can be lifted high above any circumstance we face today. The same Holy Spirit , the same power, the same God / Holy Spirit, who enabled Christ to rise again is the same God/Holy Spirit who will enable us to rise again!

For this reason…What is your reason today..right now? Where does your hope reside? Your joy ? Your peace? The prestige in a job…relationship…the security in money…for this reason you have your peace …your joy? Let us look deep into the grain of the wooden cross. Look past the nail pierced hands, wounded side to see the purity of self denial. The freedom that self denial brings as we allow God to have free reign in our lives!  Not a care, concern or worry because we know God is in control! He decides where we go, what we do, what we eat, what we wear, He provide our needs, our hopes and all of our desires as He would choose. What a wonderful place to be…under the care of a loving, almighty God!

 For this reason…Let us be low so the world would see Jesus lifted high!
